it's gettin hot in hurrrr

So we started warped tour last week. It's been hot as balls everyday. I have never been so tired at the end of everyday as I have been this past week. It's been fun but I'm ready for Warped tour to be over. Sum 41 jumped on the tour yesterday...so that's kind of fun. I have some friends that like to listen to them at a certain point of the day on the weekends...you know who you are.

I don't really have any stories to tell at this moment. I've slept in a van 7 of the last 9 days...we've driven from Montreal to St. Louis without stopping (cept for gas and peeing...obviously). I saw Talk to Me with Don Cheadle and enjoyed it. I've been playing a season of FIFA 07 on Xbox with TK...we're #1 in our league and the championships are coming up soon. I could care less about how I look these days...I wear a pair of Diadora soccer shorts and a tank top or v-neck everyday cause it's so damn hot. My feet are constantly dirty. My clothes are constantly dirty. My beard is long and pretty dirty/ugly. Air conditioner has never felt so good/water has never tasted so good. I wish we had a tour bus...
. I miss a lot of my close friends that I havne't seen in a week, a month, a year. All my boys at the dude lounge, steve holdin it down in Nash, bill, bobby...blah blah blah. You guys are missed. For those members of the Dude Lounge/G4L crew...get ready for a throwdown soon.
Speaking of Throwdown, the band "Throwndown" plays on our stage. They have played before and after us a few days (the schedule for each day differs)...I'm not into hardcore music at all but watching these guys play makes me feel like I'm watching 300 (the movie) in real life. Their drummer, Ben, could seriously be a soldier in that army. They are tough as balls...if they have a music video (dont know if they do or not), watch it.
www.myspace.com/throwdown. How tough is that stuff?

What have I been listening to?

Honestly, I hate most of the music here at Warped tour. I kind of enjoy Circa Survive. It's fun to see friends in Maylene play..as well as Bayside and Meg and Dia. I DO kind of like the new Paramore album....kill me if you must. It's not something I can listen to for long periods at a time but they are catchy at points and I have found myself kind of enjoying it.

I've been jamming the new White Stripes, the new Hillsong, Paper Route, Ryan Adams-Easy Tiger, This Will Destroy You, Yeah Yeah Yeahs-Is Is EP, The Pixies, Kaiser Chiefs-Yours Truly, Angry Mob, Flight of the Conchords, Calvin Harris, The Bravery-The Sun and the Moon, Bjork-Volta, Andrew Bird. These bands and their songs have been the soundtrack to my tour thus far. Any thoughts on what I should listen to next?

I'll be home Sept 15 for about a week before we go to Puerto Rico. See you then.

music i've been listening to:

travis-the boy with no name
kings of leon-because of the times

wilco-sky blue sky
ryan adams-heartbreaker
dead prez-let's get free
elvis costello-my aim is true
ghosts-the world is outside
the kooks-inside in/inside out

here's a thought:

because of my judgemental self, can i live with the thought of me only serving someone and not being served? for once?
what is serving someone? why do thoughts of soup kitchens come into my head whenever i think of service? is that the only outlet? can i serve someone by letting them over in traffic or by a simple "hello" to the lady at the cash register? can i serve someone by my words?

Jesus served in a lot of different ways. Can I grasp how that would look in 2007?

Canadian Planes, Trains, and Automobiles...and how I met Seal

So my weekend went a little something like this.
On Thursday night, I reunited with some of my old friends from growing up at Mugshots in Jackson for Marcus and Mariana Ginn's birthday party. It was a good time.
Friday I spent the day with the dudes practicing and getting ready to leave for Canada the next day. We went to Nagoya that night and it was right on.
Saturday, we left Clinton at 9:30 and arrived to the Nashville airport around 4 or 4:30 (we ate a long lunch). We left for Chicago at 6 and arrived there around 7:55. We boarded our fligiht to Toronto at 9:00 and arrived there around 11:30. Getting through customs and everything was a breeze..thank God.
A guy named Troy picked us up at the airport and took us to Braeside Camp, a huge chunk of land where tons of kids (more than 2,000) were camped out for a festival/conference thing.
We woke up on Sunday morning because we had to do a "Jonezetta storytime" at 1. Not many people showed up, but we had a good conversation with the folks that did come. I felt like Penny gave us a lot of insight, didn't you Ty?
Our set started at 7 and went well. The kids were fun.
The worship band for the weekend were from the U.K. They were a band called Underdown. Their other band is called Medallist (listen to them. www.myspace.com/medallist). They had sweet accents and we had a good time showing each other how to speak in the other's dialect.
Today, we woke up at 7:00 to trek back to Toronto's O'Hare International. We flew out at 10...got to Chicago at 10:15 (we gained an hour). We left Chicago at 11:00 and got to Nashville at 12:30.
Kyle and Ty decided to eat lunch at Qdoba while me and Tyler and Robert ate at P.F. Chang's. I talked in my British accent kind of all day (inspired by new friends, of course). As I was walking to the bathroom to wash my hands, I noticed that Seal (yes. Seal. as in the singer of "kissed by a rose" and Heidi Klum....Heidi....Klum....'s.....husband.........................................whew) was sitting in the booth closest to the restroom with a short, mid-50's white guy that looks like the typical Nashville music business dude. I wanted to speak to him on my way back to my table but he looked like he was in a pretty intense discussion.
As Seal (as in Heidi Klum's husband) began walking out of P.F. Chang's, I got myself ready. He got closer and closer to our table. Right as he was about to pass, I reached my hand out and said "Seal, I really looooove your music." I said this in my British accent. I shook his hand, he tried to pull away after a few good shakes, I furthered the handshake by flipping it into the arm-wrestle position (you know, the shake where you go "traditional shake" to "arm-wrestling shake".), to which he looked blatantly ready to get the hand shake over with. "I think it's really awesome." Still British.

I'm home now in Terry realizing that this right hand of mine that touches key's Y,H,N,7 and over, BASICALLY touched Heidi Klum today.

It's a good day.

Ten Things I'm doing this summer:
1). Hanging out with Drew and Stephen at Stephen's lake house/Philadelphia/Vicksburg....a lot

2). Go on vacation with my family

3). NOT be on tour

4). Go to Lake Bruin

5). Go to the zoo....and get thrown out for a variety of reasons. eh thank you.

6). Hang out at Schimmel's and Fenian's a lot

7). Get a girlfriend.

(joke)

(not funny)

8). Start going to the Journey regularly again

9). Learn how to skateboard.

Just kidding. I hate that.

9). (for real) Go on walks in the morning at least 2ce a week. And then read...maybe try yoga. Probably won't. Nahh...I won't do yoga. I don't do things like yoga. Who am I kidding?

10)....last and certainly not least.... J.D's wedding festivites and ceremony and party. Alright.

Hope to see you around, cats.

Pay your taxes.
